India is the land of one of the oldest civilizations of the world and is enriched with diversity and amalgamation of culture and heritage and tradition. The arena of vedic wisdom covers different disciplines such as maths, science, astronomy, astrology, oldest education systems, trade and commerce, metallurgy, medicine, botany, agriculture etc. and is in existence for over hundreds of years.

It is India’s unfortune that it was successfully occupied by foreigners and most of our ancient knowledge, wisdom and tradition was trailed into the background and overshadowed by the western culture. But the Sun doesn’t remain behind the clouds for a long time and it is now the time to re-discover our vedic wisdom and knowledge.

The word ‘Vedic’ refers to the time when the Vedas and its supplementary texts were written. Though ‘Vedic’ is not confined to that era but it is timeless and eternal. RigVeda, YajurVeda, AtharvaVeda and SamVeda together with Upnishads, Darshan Shastras, Aranyakas, Smriti Shastras and other historical listings have contributed a lot to the development of the development of literature and manuscripts at that time.

The most valued branches of the vedic wisdom are Yoga and Ayurveda. Even Astrology and Vastu the other two which have been eclipsed by rationalism is gaining importance now. People around the world have become mindful and have started acknowledging this Vidhya that can seriously bring positive changes in the life of a man. Both the branches, Astrology and Vastu like Yoga and Ayurveda have helped to raise the physical and mental wellness in people. Consultants and practitioners in thees fields are doing great and have been able to construct a solid foundation which has further strengthened the belief system of the people towards these branches.

What can you say about human destiny? Isn’t it mysterious? Yes, it is! You see a rich person with all the luxuries of life like a big house, cars, good business etc. But he is unhappy due to lack of marital happiness. You may also come across a person who is not sound in wealth but has a good social life. You may come across people who merely work hard but they are successful, and there are also people who toil day-and-night, they put in a lot of efforts, yet they lack satisfaction in their life and are not happy! Why does this happen? There is something. There is definitely some kind of force that helps us or stops us. This force which is a cosmic force does affect day to day lives of humans.

We find the description of such cosmic forces in out ancient scriptures like the Vedas. Vedas say, “Cosmic energies control all the living creatures on this earth.” There are many shlokas in these Vedas which say that planets and stars influence day-to-day lives of humans. Planets and stars have a specific connection with the bodies on the earth. Just like the lunar phases have impact on the tides and ebbs of the seas and oceans, in the same way, planets and stars influence humans. It is mentioned in our Vedic texts that planets reward and punish humans according to their Karmas. KARMAS! This is nothing but God’s own theory to control human beings. Right! Humans bear the fruits of their Karmas. Karma is the most powerful law made by the God. A man undergoes karmic cycle right from birth. A man is wise enough to make choices of what karmas are good or bad. Each and every karma is recorded in the divine database of the Almighty, the God. It is mentioned in our ancient texts that the Almighty incarnated Nine Planets or Nav Grahas with different energies that affect the different aspects of our lives and powerful enough to reward man’s karmas whether good or bad, in the form of happiness or sorrows, success or failure, wealth or poverty, and so on. Thus, we can say that planets do influence humans in some or the other way.

Our ancient texts teach us the system of casting one’s horoscope with details about the placement, degrees and combination of these planets and thus, examine the nature of influence of these planets on one’s life. Analysing one’s horoscope, impact of planets and providing remedial solutions accordingly to appease or control a planet, ward off the negative influences of a planet and thus instilling wisdom in one’s life towards positive karmas so as to balance the karmic cycle is the crux of Vedic Astrology. Vedic Astrology is truly our cultural treasure! Received from the Almighty, the God, our saints and sages have preserved and nurtured this treasure and has passed them down to the generation for the good of mankind. There are different branches and forms of astrology but, the Indian Vedic Astrology is the oldest one and has contributed to most aspects of the modern astrology.

According to our Vedas, various scriptures written on Vedic Astrology, and other ancient texts written by our Saints and Sages, there are several ways to improve our planetary karmic map which includes Meditation, chanting of Vedic Mantras, Hymns and Shlokas regularly, performing Yagyas and Planetary Prayers, Yoga, using Ayurvedic Cure or Natural Medication, Colour Therapy, Donation and Charity, and most importantly use of Ratnas i.e. wearing of Vedic Planetray Gemstones and Yantra or Talismans. Regular prayers to the Almighty are also important. Using remedial solutions as mentioned above have been tried and tested for hundreds of years and found to be very effective.

In literal sense, Vastu is “the science of architecture”. The Vastu Shastra is based on the influence of the sun energies and the earth magnetic fields on the living beings. Vastu Shastra lays a strong foundation for any kind of building structure through its scientific principles pertaining to land selection, plan and layout of a building, design, different measurements, interior designing and space arrangement. The theory and principles as mentioned in our vedic Vastu Shastra and at the same time modern contexts, aim to make a living or a working space harmonious with nature. The concept of Vastu Shastra deals with the space arrangement and its form may be a single structure or collection of structures, based on how these structures function, what is their usage or what is their purpose, and relation of these structures with each other. Vastu Shastra lays down principles, rules and guidelines for designing a home, a temple, a commercial or a business place. These principles are in-depth and cover all the parameters of space arrangement for home such as the entrance, bedroom, kitchen, toilet, living room, prayer room, garden etc. Vastu science is not confined to space arrangement of a residential building but it also covers principles for designing a temple, commercial or business space like a shop, office or a factory and even large public places.

The main aim of Vastu is to endow peace, harmony and prosperity to mankind. A living or a working space built as per Vastu channelise the energies of that space in the right direction and makes it pleasant and prosperous. The effects of vastu are permanent and universal. Vastu is one of the most ancient branches of the vedic wisdom and is now becoming increasingly popular throughout the globe.

Vastu Shastra also takes into consideration ‘Theory of Five Elements’ i.e Panch Tattva. The five elements are Water, Air, Fire, Earth and Space. Each of these elements are aligned with a peculiar direction, colour, organs of the body and achievement. Any kind of imbalance in any one of these elements can create difficulty in the life of the person related to that direction or organ or achievement. Principles of Vastu Shastra aims to balance these five elements in any living or working space so as to enrich it with maximum positive energy, thus making it harmonious with the natural environment. It is very important to balance these five elements so that physical, mental and monetary prosperity and growth is achieved.

Apart from illustrating the architectural principles for building a structure, it also lays down guidelines for interior space designing, and placement and arrangement of different activities like wall and ceiling paint colour, arranging sofa, or placing a television set, gas-stove, refrigerator, washing machine, or arranging plantations and making garden, arranging decorative items or artifacts, making chambers etc. This only helps to reduce the negative energies from that space and complaint to natural environment.
